How to fold a shell Ver.1

 

This is how to fold a bivalve mollusk which looks like a scallop.

The points are opening and adjust the origami.

 

1. Get a sheet of origami paper ready.  Fold it in half to make a triangle.

2. Fold it in half again.

3. Open the bag part and fold it to make a square.

4. Do the same thing for the other side too.

5. Fold them along the dotted lines and make creases.

6. Open it up and fold it along the creases.

7. Fold it like the picture below.

8. Turn it over.

9. Fold both sides to the middle.

10. Fold both sides along the dotted lines. (a valley fold)

11. Fold both sides behind along the dotted lines.

12.  Open the part that you folded.

13. Fold three corners along the dotted lines. (a mountain fold)

14. Fold the bottom part behind along the dotted line. (a mountain fold)

Let’s make various kinds of shells with big and small sized origami paper!

They will be cute if you draw some patters or putting stickers on the shells too!

How to fold a shell Ver.2

 

This is a unique shaped shell, a sea snail’s shell.

It might be interesting if you use colorful origami paper on both sides,

so that you can see the colorful back side too.

 

1. Get a sheet of origami paper ready.  Fold it in half to make a triangle.

2. Open it up.

3. Change the direction and fold it in half along the dotted line.

4. Fold it in half again.

5. Change the direction.  Put the part with four sheets to your side.

6. Fold the only one sheet up, along the dotted line.

7. Make a crease and put it back.

8. Fold the bottom corner up to the crease that you made.

9. Make a crease and put it back.

10. Fold the bottom corner up to the crease that you made in No.9.

11. Fold it up along the dotted line again.

12. Fold the second sheet of paper up to the middle.

13.  Fold it up along the dotted line.

If you make the corner sharper, it will be like a real sea snail’s shell.
