Origami: How to fold a Ray

Rays swim comfortably, moving their big fins.

How to fold a Ray Ver.1

This is a swimming ray that we can look at from its side.

 You can adjust the side of fins, checking the balance.♥

1.Fold it in half and make a crease along the dotted line.

2. Fold the left corner to the middle crease, along the dotted line.

3. Fold it along the dotted line. (a mountain fold)

4. Fold it along the dotted line. (a mountain fold)

5. Fold it along the dotted lines like a staircase.

6. Fold it along the dotted line like a stair case on the other side too.

7. Open the bag part and fold it along the dotted line, as picture No.8 shows.

8. Fold the bottom part behind along the dotted line.

9. And it’s done!

Suisuuuuui!

This is just like a real ray swimming smoothly in the sea or in an aquarium, right?♪

How to fold a Ray Ver.2

This is a ray that we can look at from the top.

It has a ray’s typical feature of flat and diamond-shape!★

1. Fold it in half along the dotted line.

2. Fold it in half again.

3. Open the bag part and fold it as picture No.4 shows.

4. Do the same thing for the other side too.

5. Fold it along the dotted lines and make creases.

6. Fold the bottom corner up along the dotted line.

7. Open it without putting No.6 back.

8. Fold both sides to the middle along the dotted lines.

9. Fold it along the dotted line. (a valley fold)

10. Fold them up along the dotted lines.

11. Fold them along the dotted lines and make creases.

12. Open the bag parts from the arrows and fold them as picture No.13 shows.

13. Fold them along the dotted lines. (a valley fold)

14. Fold it in half.

15. Bend the tail.

16. Open it up, draw eyes and it’s done!

Please be careful about where you put the eyes.

When we see the ray from the bottom side,

it seems like it has cute eyes and mouth on it.

But actually, the eyes are only on the back.
