Origami: How to fold Mt. Fuji

Because of the recent ‘climbing mountain’ boom,

more and more people have started enjoying climbing mountains, haven’t they?

How to fold a mountain Ver.1

 

First, we will fold the easy one!

Even small children can enjoy it together too.

 

1. Get a sheet of origami paper ready.

Fold it in half twice and make two creases along the dotted lines.

2. Fold it in half again.

3. Fold both corners along the dotted lines.

4. Fold it along the dotted line. (a valley fold)

5. Turn it over.  It is getting like a mountain!

6. Fold it lightly along the dotted line. (a mountain fold)

7. And it’s done!

Big and small double mountains are done!

How about making the mountain range, making more?

 

You can make mountains in autumn,

using red or yellow origami paper and can make ones in winter,

using white origami paper too!

How to fold a mountain Ver.2 Fujisan (Mount Fuji)

 

This is the “Fujisan” version of origami.

Let’s make the three-dimensional Fujisan covered with snow!

 

1. Get a sheet of origami paper ready.

Fold it in half twice and make two creases along the dotted lines.

2. Fold it in half to make a triangle.

3. Fold it in half to make another triangle.

4. Fold the corner along the dotted line and make a crease.

5. And open it up all the way.

6. It will be like the picture below.

You see the crease of the square in the middle.

Fold those creases again. (a mountain fold)

7. Fold it in half.

8. Fold it in half again and

9. open it.

10. And fold it to make a triangle.

11. Do the same thing for the other side too.

12. Open it up all the way again.

13. Fold all corners to the middle.

14. Fold it in half. (a mountain fold)

15. Fold both corners along the dotted lines.

17. Make a strong crease.

18. Fold it in half along the dotted line.

19. Open it up like the picture below.

20. Fold the middle like the picture below.

If you fold all four corners, you will see the white square.

21. Fold it along the creases that you made so that

it will be a three-dimensional shape. (a valley fold and a mountain fold in turns)

22.It will be like the picture below.  Make the top white square hollow.

23. Fold the corner which is sticking out inside, along the dotted line.

24. Fold it the same way for the rest of the corners.

If you make strong creases, it will be easier to fold at the end.

Mini-Fujisan is very cute, isn’t it?
