Origami: How to fold an Onigiri (Rice Ball)
SPONSORED LINK
Onigiri (a rice ball) is the necessary food in obento
(a common lunch in Japan, that comes in a box)
We put umeboshi (a pickled plum), salmon,
seaweed and tuna flavored with mayonnaise, etc… in an onigiri…
It’s so fun to choose the ingredient from all those varieties, isn’t it?★
Why is onigiri that our mother makes so delicious?
That’s maybe because it has their love in it?♥
Today, I’ll show you two types of origami onigiri.♪

How to fold an Onigiri Ver.1
It’s very easy to fold.
You might want to use a black sheet of origami paper,
since the outside will be the seaweed’s part.♪
By the way, if you use a white sheet of origami paper,
it will be a “shio-musubi” (onigiri flavored with salt).★
1. Fold it in half along the dotted line and make a crease.
2. Fold both corners down along the dotted lines.
3. Fold both sides to the middle along the dotted lines.
4. Turning over…
5. and fold the bottom part up along the dotted line.
6. Fold it up again along the dotted line again.
7. Fold all the corners behind along the dotted lines.
8. And it’s done!
Here is an onigiri rolled with seaweed!
It might be good too if you draw some ingredients on the white part in No.6.♪
How to fold an Onigiri Ver.2
This is so easy too!
This looks delicious rolled with huge seaweed!★
1. Fold it in half twice to make two creases along the dotted lines.
2. Fold the bottom corner up along the dotted line.
3. Fold it up again along the dotted line again.
4. Fold both sides behind along the dotted lines.
5. Fold all the corners behind along the dotted lines.
6. And it’s done!
Which onigiri do you like better, Ver.1 or Ver.2?
You can make a lot of origami onigiri and put them in the lunch box,
so that you can play as a picnic.♪
