Origami: How to fold a Chestnut

One of the best foods in autumn is a chestnut.

You can just eat without cooking,

but there are various ways of eating it too.♪

Chestnut rice, candied, Mont Blanc, sweet roasted chestnut…,

they are all delicious, aren’t they?

They make my mouth water…

The best season for such chestnuts is around the corner.

Get excited at making them with origami paper.★

How to make a chestnut 1   A chestnut in its shell

１．Fold it in half twice and make two creases along the dotted lines.

Cut it along the lines.  We will use one of the four pieces.

２．Fold it in half and fold the bottom corner up to the middle,

along the dotted line.

３．Fold it in half along the dotted line to the middle crease.

４．Fold it along the middle crease.

５．Turn it over and fold both sides to the middle.

６．Flip it over, and it’s done!

How to make a chestnut 2   A shell of the chestnut

１．Fold it twice and make two creases, along the dotted lines.

２．Fold four corners to the middle.

３．Turn it over and fold four corners to the middle again.

４．Turn it over and fold four corners to the middle again.

５．Turn it over and open the bag part of both sides fold them,

as picture No.6 shows.

６．Fold it in half.

７．Change the direction like the picture below

and pull the squares inside out, as picture No.8 shows.

８．Fold it inside along the dotted line.

Fold it the same way for the back side too.

９．Put them together with glue.

１０．And it’s done!

This is the chestnut and the shell together.

How to make a chestnut 3   A big chestnut

１．Fold it in half twice and make two creases along the red lines.

Fold the bottom part up, along the dotted line.

２．Turn it over and fold both corners down along the dotted lines.

３．Fold both sides along the dotted lines.

４．Flip it over, and it’s done!

It’s so easy to fold chestnuts with origami paper.

It’s amazing, isn’t it?★

If you make a big chestnut with a quarter-sized origami paper,

it fits in the shell too.
