Origami: How to fold a Carnation

What’s your mom’s favorite flower? ♥
I folded a Carnation with origami paper,
thinking that I would ask her that question when I was a little.
Even though its characteristic is a notched petal, I could make it easily.♪
Let’s make it with your favorite origami paper!

(1) How to fold a Carnation (Normal)
1 Face origami’s front side up, make two creases with the valley fold.
2 Open it up and fold two sides diagonally with the mountain fold, this time.
3 Fold it along (using) the creases to make a square.
4 Fold both sides of the top layer along the middle crease.
Fold the same way for the other side too. (The loop part at the bottom)
5 Fold it in half, make a crease and put it back.
6 Cut the petal parts jagged with scissors.
If you have pinking shears, it’ll be much easier.
7 Open the petal parts and make good-shaped petals.
Make sure one of the petals toward you has to be folded toward you.
Are your petals pretty? Then it’s done!
If you make more than one flower, it’ll be a bouquet too.★
Maybe you want to use origami paper with colors your mother likes
or the ones your kids like.
You can even change the size using bigger paper.
It will be a gorgeous bouquet, so try that out too♪
(2) How to fold a Carnation (Fatty-Type)
1 Face origami’s front side up, make two creases with the valley fold.
2 Open it up and fold two sides diagonally with the mountain fold, this time.
3 Fold it along (using) the creases to make a square.
4 Fold both sides of the top layer along the middle crease.
Fold the same way for the other side too. (The loop part at the bottom)
5 Fold it in half, make a crease and put it back.
6 Cut the petal parts jagged with scissors.
If you have pinking shears, it’ll be much easier.
7 Fold it in half lengthways.
8 Fold the tip inside, like the picture below.
9 Open the petals nicely, and the fatty petals are done!
Even though it’s very easy to make,
it might be a little difficult for you to cut it jagged.★
If you use pinking shears, it’ll be much easier.
I bet especially little kids will have difficulty cutting this part,
so maybe you need to help them.
It might be a little crooked in shape,
but everybody loves getting hand-made flowers with lots of love.
They look much more beautiful than any other flowers, right?♥
