Origami How to fold Mickey Mouse ver.1
1.Get three sheets of origami paper (for a head, a face and ears) ready.
First, we will make a face. Fold it in half twice to make four squares and make creases.
2.Fold both sides to the middle crease along the dotted lines.
3.Fold two sides to the middle crease again to make a square this time.
4.Next, fold both corners to inside along the dotted lines.
5.Turn it over and fold the tip to the middle crease along the dotted line.
6.And the head is done.
7.Next, we will make a face.
Fold it in half and make a crease. Fold both sides to the middle crease.
8.Fold it in half along the bottom dotted line and make a crease.
Put it back and fold the top half down along the top dotted line and make a crease.
9.Turn it over and fold it to put both creases together.
The dotted line has to be a valley fold, so that this part will look like a staircase.
10.If you can make a staircase like the picture below, then turn it over again.
11.Fold both sides to inside along the dotted lines (about 10cm from the edge)
12.When you fold them inside, you will see the back parts at the bottom.
Smash those parts so that you can make two triangles.
And fold the top both corners down along the dotted lines.
13.And the face is done!
14.Let’s put the newly made head and the face together!
Insert the face into the head all the way to the arrow.
15.Fold the face part up along the dotted line.
16.Then turn it over.
17.Fold both bottom corners up along the dotted lines.
18.To make the face more rounded,
fold the bottom corners up to make small triangles.
19.Fold it up along the dotted line again.
20.And the head and face set is done!
21.Lastly, we will make ears.
Since we will use two sheets of 1/4-size origami paper, cut it to that size beforehand.
First, fold it in half twice to make four squares. Put it back.
Fold all the corners to the middle along the dotted lines.
22.Fold the bottom corner up to the middle along the dotted line.
23.Next, fold both sides to the middle along the dotted lines and make creases.
24.To make a pentagon, fold both sides a little along the dotted lines.
Fold the top corner down along the top dotted line to put both ‘〇’ together.
25.Turn it over and the ears are done!
Make the same one following the procedure No.21 to 24.
26.Now, we put the face and the ears.
Put a glue to the head part so that the ‘〇’ part can be stuck together.
You can draw a face before you put them.
27.If you put both ears with glue, Mickey Mouse is done!
Origami How to fold Mickey Mouse ver.2
1.Get two sheets of origami paper for a face and ears ready.
Both sheets of paper should be black but today,
I’ll use gray to distinguish this one from ver.1.
First, fold it in half to make a triangle and make a crease.
Please make sure that gray side is facing up and the way you fold is a valley fold.
2.Change the direction by 90 degrees and fold it along the dotted line,
adjusting with the crease.
3.Fold the only the top layer of the tip down along the dotted line.
This will be Mickey’s forehead.
4.Turn it over and fold the back tip down too.
Please make sure that you leave the same width of a gray part shown
in the picture No.3.
5.Put it back, leaving both sides still folded.
Put the back side facing up and divide it into three equal parts
and fold both sides along the dotted lines.
You can fold from either side.
6.Fold both sides back along the dotted lines,
leaving little margins like the picture below.
7.Fold it along the crease that you put in No.6. (a mountain fold)
8.This will be the face part. Fold both sides behind along the dotted lines.
9.And the face is done!
10.Next, we will make ears. Get two sheets of 1/4 cut paper ready.
For each paper, fold it in half twice to make a triangle and make creases,
along the dotted lines.
11.Put them back. Fold three corners toward the middle along the dotted lines.
Be careful not to put all the corners to the center.
12.Fold two bottom corners up along the dotted lines.
13.Make the same one, following the procedure No.11 ~ No.12.
14.Put them to the face with glue or tape.
15.Draw a face, and it’s done!
I showed you two types today,
the one we need three sheets of origami paper
and the one we need two sheets of origami paper.
How you draw a face is the most important thing
when we make characters with origami paper.
If you think that you are not good at drawing,
you might have to devise by making a draft
with a pencil before you go to the next step.
I bet you have some Mickey Mouse items in your house.
I hope you will make a good one so that everybody will say that it’s cute!♥
