Origami: How to fold a Rabbit

Would you like to fold a cute rabbit with origami paper?★

Rabbits have been familiar to us for a long time, appearing in the fairy tale.

They’re popular as pets too, since they’re small and quiet.

I like to see them hopping around with their long ears.  They’re so cute, aren’t they? ♪

You can express such cute rabbits with origami paper too, so let’s fold them together.

How to fold a Rabbit 1  A rabbit with huge ears

１．Fold it in half to make a triangle.

２．Fold it in half again to make a crease, and put it back.

３．Fold both sides to the crease that you made in No.2, like the picture below.

４．Fold both sides to the middle line, like the picture below.

５．Fold two corners along the dotted lines shown in the picture, and make creases.

Put them back.

６．Open each side and fold it, using the creases that you made in No.5.

It will be like picture No.7.

７．Fold it back in half along the dotted line shown in the picture below.

It will be like picture No.8.

８．Close both parts that you folded in No.6, and it will be like picture 9.

９．Fold it along the two dotted lines shown in the picture below.

Do the same thing for the other side too.

１０．It will be like the picture below.

１１．Fold it along the dotted line shown in the picture below.

Do the same thing for the other side too.

１２．Open both sides and make a triangle (mouth’s part),

using the dotted lines shown in the picture below.  It will be like picture No.13.

１３．Change the direction to the picture in No.14.

１４．Fold the mouth part and fold the tail part like a staircase along the dotted lines

shown in picture below.

１５．Fold the mouth part inside, using the crease that you made in No. 14,

like the picture below.

１６．Open the ears, and it’s done!

How to fold a Rabbit 2  A hopping rabbit

１．Fold it in half to make it a rectangle and fold it in half again to make a square.

Put it back.  Fold it in half to make a triangle

and fold it in half again to make another triangle. Put it back.

After you make the creases above, fold two lines between the middle line and each edge.

Fold the bottom corners up to the center to make two another two lines.

You’ll see eight creases in total like the picture below.

２．Fold both sides to the middle crease that you made in No.1, like the picture below.

３．Fold it up along the dotted lines shown in the picture below.

４．Put it back and fold two corners behind, like the picture below.

５．Fold two sides to the middle line along the dotted lines shown in the picture below.

６．Fold the bottom part up along the dotted line shown in the picture below.

７．Fold it back in half so that it’ll be like the picture in No.8.

８．Pull the part like the arrow to change the angle,

so that it will be like the picture in No.9.

９．Make a crease along the dotted line shown in the picture below.

And change the direction to the picture in No.10.

１０．Fold the right part inside along the dotted line, angling a little,

so that it will be like the picture in No.11.

１１．Fold the part you made in No.10 inside again along the dotted line shown

in the picture below.

１２．Open the ears, and it’s done!

How to fold a Rabbit 3  A small rabbit

１．Fold it in half to make it a rectangle and fold it in half again to make a square.

Put it back.

Fold it in half to make a triangle and fold it in half again to make another triangle.

Put it back.

２．Fold it along the creases that you made in No.1.

(toward the arrows shown in the picture below)

３．Open from the top and fold it along the dotted lines shown in the picture below.

４．Fold the top part down, and change the direction.

５．Fold it in half.

６．Fold it along the dotted line.  Do the same thing for the back side.

７．Fold it like turning it over with a dotted line shown in the picture below.

８．Fold it back along the dotted line.

９．Fold the pointed part inside.

１０．Fold it along the dotted line.

１１．Fold it back along the dotted line.

１２．Fold it back along the dotted line.

１３．Do the same things for the back side.

１４．Open it from the bottom side.

１５．Cut it along the black lines and fold both sides along the dotted lines.

１６．Fold the pointed part of the foot (left) inside, and put the tail (right) inside

like a staircase.

１７．It’s done!

All of the rabbits have nice ears, don’t they?

They look exactly like the real rabbits,

as if they were going to hop around.❤

At the same time, I think it’s so hard especially

on the angle of folding the parts inside.

You can adjust the angle or the length of folding,

if you think it doesn’t have good balance.

If you change the length of their faces or bodies,

they’ll have different atmospheres, so try that too.★
