Origami: How to fold a Hamster

Hamsters are small and move so fast, don’t they?

They are popular as a pet too.★

Let’s make such small, fluffy and cute hamsters with origami paper!

I’ll show you two patterns this time.♪

How to fold a hamster Ver.1

This is the easy one.

This hamster is looking up, which is so cute.♥

1.Get a sheet of origami paper ready.  Fold it in half.

2. Fold it at the 1/3 line of the rectangular along the dotted line.

3. Fold the corner up and make a crease along the dotted line.

4. Fold the corner inside, as picture No.5 shows.

5. Fold it along the dotted line. (a valley fold)  This part will be a front paw.

6. Fold the corner down along the dotted line.  This will be an ear.

7. Draw an eye, nose and whiskers….

8. And it’s done!

You can make you original hamster, by drawing however you like.

Let’s make many hamsters with different expressions.♪

How to fold a hamster Ver.2

This is a three-dimensional hamster.

The way of folding is the same as the origami balloon until the middle procedure.

The fluffy hamster looks so cute.♥

1. Get a sheet of origami paper ready.  Fold it in half.

2. Fold it in half again.

3. Open the bag part and fold it to make a triangle.

4. Do the same thing for the other side too.

5. Fold both sides toward the top middle corner.

6. Fold two corners to the middle along the dotted lines.

7. Fold the top corner down along the dotted line.

8. Fold each corner down along the dotted lines and insert them into each slit.

9. Turn it over to the left.

10. Fold the corner up along the dotted line.

11.Fold the corner down along the dotted line.

12. Put the part that you turned over back.

13. Do the same thing for the other side too.

14. Turn it over.

15. Fold both sides to the middle. And turn one layer over.

16. It will be like the picture below.  Fold it inside along the dotted line.

17. Fold it and make a crease along the dotted line.

18. Turn one layer over to the left.

19. Fold four sides a little toward inside.

20. Go back to No.18 again.

21. Change the direction.

Open the bag part from the part with an arrow,

and fold it as picture No.22 shows.

22. It will be like the picture below.  And it’s an ear.

23. Draw an eye.  Then blow the air up from the hole.

24. And it’s done!

How was it?

Make sure you draw the eye before you blow up,

so that it will look better.★

If you want it to look like a real hamster,

adjust it to make the mouth sharp,

instead of blowing up completely!
