Origami: How to fold a Rooster (A Rooster, A Chick, An Egg)

When I was an elementary school student,

some chickens were kept in the shed at our school.

I remember they were so cheerful,

crowing “cock-a-doodle-doo”.

I also remember their chicks were so cute too.

Recalling those memories,

I folded some roosters and chicks with origami paper.

How to make 1   How to fold a Rooster

１．Fold it in half to make a triangle.

２．Fold it in half again to make another triangle, and put it back.

Fold the top layer of the triangle like a staircase along the dotted lines, like picture No.3.

Make sure the tip of the little triangle will be over the dotted line like the picture No.3.

３．Fold the second layer of the triangle behind along the dotted line.

４．Fold it in half, like picture No.5.

５．Fold the top layer of the bottom part up along the dotted line.

Fold it the same way for the other side too.

６．Pull the red triangle part up, like picture No.7.

７．And it’s done!

How to make 2   How to fold a Chick

１．Fold it in half to make a triangle.

Fold it in half again to make another triangle.

Open them up all the way, and fold the left side up along the dotted line.

２．Fold the tip up along the dotted line.

３．Fold the top part down in half along the dotted line.

４．Fold the bottom corner inside along the dotted line.

Fold it the same way for the other side too.

５．And it’s done!

How to make 3   How to fold an Egg

１．Fold it in half to make a triangle.

Open it up and fold both sides to the crease along the dotted lines.

２．Fold the bottom part up along the dotted line.

３．Fold the top tip down along the dotted line.

４．Fold four corners inside along the dotted lines.

５．Flip it over, and it’s done!

If you start making from an egg, then a chick, and finally a rooster,

kids can enjoy learning the process of their growing too.

 If you use the regular size origami paper for a chick and an egg,

they will be huge chick and egg.

If you want to make them cute,

I’ll recommend that you should use smaller origami paper.
